MOST ICONIC SPECIAL EDITION FOOTBALL SHIRTS
Throughout the years we've seen some iconic football shirts being realeased, and none so more special than a limited edition shirt! Clubs have implemeted outrageous designs, throwbacks to their glory days and some funky colours! Let's take a look at the most iconic special edition football shirts out there!
AJAX 2021-22 3rd SHIRT
This Ajax 3rd kit was inspired by Bob Marley's famous "3 little birds" song. The colours are representitive of Jamaica, and a printing of 3 little birds can be found a the back of the neck on the shirt. This one was an instant classic and sold out instantly!
BARCELONA 1999-2000 HOME SHIRT
In the late 90's the Catalan Club revisited the design for a special-edition kit. Marking the club's centenary year, the kits well-renowned stripes were replaced with a half-blue and half-red design.
The gold detailing and 1899 & 1999 on either side of the badge makes it an instant classic. Rivaldo even won the Ballon d'Or that year to cement the shirt place in the history books.
FRANCE CENTENARY KIT 2019
Nike launched this limited edition jersey to help French Football celebrate their 100th birthday. The glorious blue and gold will forever remain in the harts of football fans across the world. France beat Iceland 4-0 whilst wearing this shirt at the Stade de France on 25 March 2019.
ATLETICO MINEIRO 2021-22 SPECIAL EDITION SHIRT
Atletico Mineiro Club and Le Coq Sportif jointly launched a special edition shirt to celebrate the club's 113th anniversary. The "Manto da Massa 113" celebrates the important milestone of the club with proceeds from sales going towards educaton initiatives within Brazil's mines.
The design on the shirt is astonishing and one never seen before, therefore, this is one of the all-time greats.
NAPOLI 2020-21 MARCELO BURLON KIT
Napoli wore this shirt in a 1-1 draw with Inter Milan. The design was inspired by Italian Street designer, Marcelo Burlon. Only 1000 kits were released, making this one of the most sought after kits of all-time. The winged design across the chest is a risky design, but one that they got spot on! There is no disputing that this is an all-time classic for years to come!
