GAME WEEK 14 PREVIEWS AND PREDICTIONS

Updated: Dec 3, 2021

NEWCASTLE UNITED VS NORWICH CITY

Newcastle are yet to register their first win of the season. They were denied a result against Arsenal by some superb Ramsdale saves and brilliant Arsenal goals. Norwich played out a goalless stalemate against Wolves. Dean Smith will be pleased with his side’s improvements in defense.

ONE TO WATCH: JONJO SHELVEY PREDICTION: 2-1

LEEDS UNITED VS CRYSTAL PALACE

Leeds were fortunate to claim a point against Brighton after a 0-0 draw. Brighton lacked the killing edge and that saw Leeds of the hook. Palace suffered defeat at the hands of Aston Villa in their last game. There were still a lot of positives to take away from the game and they will fancy their chances against an out of form Leeds.

ONE TO WATCH: MICHAEL OLISE PREDICTION: 0-2

SOUTHAMPTON VS LEICESTER CITY

Southampton lost their game away at Anfield inside the first two minutes. After Jota scored the fastest goal of the season thus far it was an uphill battle the rest of the way. Leicester should be able to walk away with 3 points from Saint Mary’s. It won’t be another 9-0 but it should be a routine win for the foxes.

ONE TO WATCH: ADEMOLA LOOKMAN PREDICTION: 1-2

WATFORD VS CHELSEA

Watford have certainly impressed after Ranieri took over. They will have to be at their very best if they are to stand a chance to claim a result against the Blues. Chelsea are in the form of their life and showed their class by defeating Juventus 4-0. The draw against United should not affect the blues too much. Let’s see if Ranieri can maneuver a result against his old side.

ONE TO WATCH: MARCOS ALONSO PREDICTION: 0-2

WEST HAM UNITED VS BRIGHTON AND HOVE ALBION

This meeting has ended in a draw the last 5 times. The hammers will be looking to re-write the script as they face Brighton. Brighton lacked the killer edge as they squandered some glorious opportunities to defeat Leeds. If both sides show up at the London Stadium on Wednesday it should be a thrilling encounter.

ONE TO WATCH: SAÏD BENRAHMA PREDICTION: 3-1

WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS VS BURNLEY

Wolves were held at home to Norwich as they drew 0-0. They will be looking to find some goals when Burnley come and visit. Burnley’s encounter with Spurs had to be called off. Due to severe weather conditions the officials deemed the pitch ‘unplayable’. They will surely fancy their chances against Wolves after a nice off weekend.

ONE TO WATCH: MAXWEL CORNET

PREDICTION: 2-2

ASTON VILLA VS MANCHESTER CITY

2 wins from 2 is not a bad start for Steven Gerrard but this is one of the toughest tests he will face as a manager. Villa claimed an impressive 2-1 win away at Crystal Palace. City saw out a routine 2-1 win against West Ham in a flurry of snow. Villa most definitely stand a chance, but Gerrard will know that it’s going to be a tough evening that lies ahead.

ONE TO WATCH: JOHN McGINN PREDICTION: 1-1

EVERTON VS LIVERPOOL

The first Mersey side derby of the season has arrived! Everton’s tragic form of late will surely not give them confidence against a Liverpool side who have scored 10 goals and conceded none in their last 3 games. It should be said however that form usually goes out the window when it’s time for a derby.

ONE TO WATCH: DIOGO JOTA PREDICTION: 0-3

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR VS BRENTFORD

Spurs have had some time off after their game versus Burnley got called off. Brentford were able to see out a hard fought 1-0 win against Everton. Ironically it was only their second home win of the season after they defeated Arsenal on the opening day. Spurs should be wary because we all know how dangerous this Brentford side can be.

ONE TO WATCH: IVAN TONEY PREDICTION: 1-1

MANCHESTER UNITED VS ARSENAL

United were able to walk away with a point from Stamford Bridge after a rugged display. It certainly was not the most attracting football but it surely was affective. Arsenal bounced back from their defeat at Anfield with a hard fought 2-0 win against Newcastle. The gunners will be eyeing all 3 points on Thursday evening at Old Trafford.

ONE TO WATCH: PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG PREDICTION: 1-2

WHO SHOULD YOUR FANTASY CAPTAIN BE THIS WEEK?

TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD

The time has finally come to consider captaining a full-back, and who else than Trent? The Liverpool right back has produced 7 assists and 1 goal so far this season. The right back will surely get some joy down the right flank of Everton. He has all the quality to punish them and add to his assists tally.

FUN FACT

We will all remember Leicester’s dramatic title winning season, but they actually made some history the season before as well. They endured 140 at rock bottom during the 2014-15 season, the longest any team has spent bottom without getting relegated.
